had هاد
Algerian Darja · pronoun
“had” (هاد) is a pronoun in Algerian Darja meaning this (demonstrative).
Meanings
- this (demonstrative)
Usage
An invariable demonstrative placed before a definite noun: "had el3am" (this year), "had ettomobil" (this car). It does not agree in gender or number, unlike "hada" (this one, masc.) and "hadi" (this one, fem.), which can also stand alone as pronouns. The form is especially common in the West, but it is understood and heard throughout the country. Don't forget the article: say "had ennhar" (this day), not "had nhar". The reference source links it to Levantine, but it is indeed Algerian usage.
Example
هاد الطوموبيل جديدة
had ttomobil jdida
“This car is new.”
