About
Darija is the Arabic spoken every day across the Maghreb. It is rarely taught in school but written everywhere on phones, mostly in Latin letters, with digits for the sounds the Latin alphabet has no letter for: that is Arabizi, where “3” stands for ayn and “9” for qaf.
Every word in this dictionary is found in real texts, then explained by language models: its meanings, usage, an example and its spellings. The English text is translated from the dictionary’s French entries and checked against them. Method · Sources.
