Meanings
- okay, that's it, fine
- enough, that's enough
- pure, clear
Usage
Safi is one of the most frequent words in darija. At the start of a sentence, it closes a discussion or marks acceptance: "okay", "fine", "it's settled". With a curt intonation, it means "that's enough", to stop someone. It can also express the end of an action: safi, salit, "that's it, I'm done". As an adjective, it describes clear water, a clear sky or a heart free of grudges. Depending on the tone, safi can sound conciliatory or annoyed. It is often combined with ghir to soften a command.
Example
صافي غير سر
safi ghir sir
“Okay, just go, then.”
