yezzi يزي
Tunisian Derja · interjection
“yezzi” (يزي) is an interjection in Tunisian Derja meaning enough, that's enough.
Meanings
- enough, that's enough
- stop (doing)
- only, that's all
Usage
Yezzi first of all means "that's enough". It is used alone to cut something short (yezzi!) or with mel/men to mean "stop": yezzi mel klem, "enough talking". Placed after a quantity, it means "only, and that's all": marra wa7da yezzi, "just once, that's enough". The word takes suffixed pronouns: yezzini ("I've had enough", "that's enough for me"), yezzik ("stop it, you"). The tone is informal and can sound curt depending on intonation. To soften it, brabbi, "please", is often added.
Example
