yal9aha tayba يلقاها طايبة
Algerian Darja · expression
“yal9aha tayba” (يلقاها طايبة) is an expression in Algerian Darja meaning to get everything without effort.
Meanings
- to get everything without effort
- someone who never has to work hard
Usage
Yal9aha tayba literally means "he finds it cooked". The expression describes someone who gets everything without effort: he benefits from other people's work, receives an inheritance, or has a position handed to him in advance. It is familiar and often critical, even envious, a bit like the English "have it handed to you on a plate". It is conjugated according to the person: l9itha tayba ("I found it all ready"), tal9aha tayba ("you find it all ready"). It is readily contrasted with someone who "wears himself out" (yet3eb) to earn a living. The ha refers to the situation in general, not to a specific object.
Example
