Meanings

  2. to be suited, to fit

Usage

Ywalem means "to suit, to fit well". It is used for a garment, a colour or a role in relation to a person, or for something suited to a situation. It takes a suffixed pronoun directly: ywalmek, "it suits you". It is also often found without a complement: ma ywalemch, "it doesn't fit, it's not appropriate". The register is common and neutral. The word comes from Arabic yulâ'im. Synonym: ywati. Pitfall: it does not mean "to get used to". It expresses the fit between two things.
