“9sir” (قصير) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning short (length, duration).

Meanings

  1. short (length, duration)
  2. short, small in stature

Usage

9sir is the common adjective for "short" or "short in height", used for a person as well as for an object, hair, a garment or a length of time. The feminine is 9sira and the plural 9sar. To compare, use the form 9ser men ("shorter than"). You also hear a construction with 3la, as in 9sir 3liya, meaning "shorter than me" or "too short for me". The opposite is twil. Careful: 9sir does not mean "small" in general. For a small object, say sghir instead.
