Usage
Jelban is the collective noun for green peas. The singulative jelbana means a single pea, but it is also often used for the vegetable in general. It appears in many dishes, for example meat tajine with peas or peas with artichokes. The word takes the masculine singular, like other collectives. Careful: it does not mean chickpeas, which are called hommes.
