rou7i روحي
Moroccan Darija · adjective
“rou7i” (روحي) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning spiritual, relating to the soul.
Meanings
- spiritual, relating to the soul
- my soul (rou7 + -i)
- my darling (affectionate)
Usage
Rou7i has two readings that need to be told apart. As an adjective, it means "spiritual", in a fairly formal register: a rou7i bond, rou7ia music. The feminine is rou7ia. But the same form is very often the noun rou7 (soul) followed by the possessive -i, "my soul". It is heard in declarations of affection, like "I would give you my soul", or as a term of endearment: a rou7i, "my soul, my darling". Context decides: after a noun, it is most likely the adjective; on its own or in address, it is the possessive.
Example
