Meanings
- eight
- eight o'clock
Usage
Tmenya is the number eight, in the form used on its own: for counting, telling the time, or giving a quantity. "Hadi tmenya" means "it's eight o'clock". Before a noun, you use either the short form tmen with a plural noun (tmen snin, eight years), or tmenya d- followed by the article (tmenya d-l-wlad, eight children). Placed before a number, wahed expresses approximation: wahed tmenya dqayq means "about eight minutes". Do not confuse tmenya with tmen, which also means "an eighth" or "price", depending on the context.
