siyesa سياسة
Tunisian Derja · noun
“siyesa” (سياسة) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning politics.
Meanings
- politics
- policy, line of conduct
- tact, diplomacy
Usage
Siyesa means politics in the general sense: ye7ki fi siyesa, "he talks politics". A politician is called rajel siyesa, though siyesi is also heard. It also refers to the policy of a company or a government. A very Tunisian use is b siyesa, "with tact, gently": a7kilou b siyesa, "talk to him gently". For an English speaker, this last sense is the most surprising, as it has nothing to do with the political world. The word is neutral in register and used in all circles.
Example
ما نحبش نحكي في السياسة
ma n7ebbech na7ki fi siyesa
