3awdtani عاودتاني
Algerian Darja · adverb
“3awdtani” (عاودتاني) is an adverb in Algerian Darja meaning once again, again.
Meanings
- once again, again
- another time, next time
Usage
The form 3awed tani, often written as one word (3awdtani), combines the verb 3awed (to redo, to repeat), frozen as an adverb, and tani (also, again). It means "once again", "again". It is used after a verb: jat 3awed tani, "she came back once again". It readily expresses irritation at a repetition: 3awed tani ?!, "again?!". The meaning "the last time", given by the reference definition, is not confirmed. In casual speech you also hear simply 3awed alone, or marra okhra for "another time".
Example
نساها عاود تاني
nsaha 3awed tani
“He forgot her again.”
