“bi3t” (بعت) is a verb in Algerian Darja meaning I sold / you (m.) sold.

Meanings

  1. I sold / you (m.) sold
  2. he sent (read b3at)

Usage

Conjugated form of ba3 "to sell", in the past tense. Read bi3t, it is used for the first person singular and the second person masculine: only context distinguishes "I sold" from "you sold". For the feminine, you say bi3ti "you sold". The object follows the verb directly: bi3t tomobil "I sold the car". The place is given with fi: bi3t fihum "I sold there". Note: the same Arabic spelling can also be read b3at, a variant of b3ath "to send", which is also very common. In unvowelled writing, context decides.
