raygal ريقل
Algerian Darja · verb
“raygal” (ريقل) is a verb in Algerian Darja meaning to sort out, arrange.
Meanings
- to sort out, arrange
- to get organised, pull oneself together
- to adjust, fine-tune
Usage
Rayyeg is an adapted borrowing from French "régler", fully integrated into darja and conjugated like an Arabic verb: rayyegt, nrayyeg, yrayyeg. It means to "arrange, settle" a matter, a problem or a device. With rouh, it takes a very common reflexive sense: rayyeg rouhek, "get organised, manage, pull yourself together". It is also heard for "sorting out" a person, that is, doing them a favour or coming to an understanding with them. The register is informal. The g is pronounced hard, hence the spellings with g or q.
Example
ما تقلقش، غدوة نريقلها.
ma tqalaqch, ghodwa nrayegha.
“Don't worry, tomorrow I'll sort it out.”
