setta ستة
Algerian Darja · numeral
“setta” (ستة) is a numeral in Algerian Darja meaning six.
Meanings
- six
Usage
Setta is the form of the number six used on its own, for counting or telling the time: n'nod 3la setta, "I get up at six o'clock". Before a plural noun it shortens to sett: sett snin, "six years", sett iyyam, "six days". Beyond ten, the form changes: settach (sixteen). For prices, people often count in old francs or douros, which can be confusing. In online writing, the word is often replaced by the digit 6, especially as this digit is also used in arabizi to write the letter ṭ.
Example
قعدت ستة شهور فالجزاير
93adt setta chhour fel-dzayer
