Usage
Vilo is the adapted loanword from French "vélo." It is the usual word in Algeria for a bicycle, among children and adults alike, in town and in the countryside. It is used with the article: l-vilo, "the bike." Common constructions: rkeb l-vilo ("ride a bike"), yemchi b l-vilo ("he gets around by bike"), chra vilo ("he bought a bike"). Bichklita, an older term, is also used. A motorcycle is rather called moto. Online spelling varies a lot, because the French v is rendered as f or v.
