Ybayen is the imperfect of "bayen" (he showed). The verb is used for showing an object as well as for bringing a fact to light. It is often constructed with "belli" (that): "ybayen belli…", meaning "it shows that…". The expression "bayen rouhou" means to draw attention to oneself, to show off, and is often pejorative. Without a complement, "ybayen" can also mean "it looks like, it seems". In the imperative, "bayenli" translates as "show me". The word is common and neutral.
