ynaza3 ينازع
Algerian Darja · verb
“ynaza3” (ينازع) is a verb in Algerian Darja meaning to moan, to groan in pain.
Meanings
- to moan, to groan in pain
- to be in agony
Usage
Ynaza3 describes a person who moans because of pain or a high fever. It can also refer to a dying person in their last agony. Depending on context, the verb therefore expresses either passing suffering or the state of a gravely ill person. It is intransitive and often used in the progressive: rah ynaza3 ("he is moaning"). Do not confuse it with the meaning "to dispute" or "to contest" that the same root has in Standard Arabic. In Darja, that sense is rare.
Example
قعد الليل كامل ينازع بالوجع
g3ed el lil kamel ynaza3 bel waja3
“He spent the whole night groaning in pain.”
