3ndo عندو

Moroccan Darija · verb

“3ndo” (عندو) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning he has, he owns.

Meanings

  1. he has, he owns
  2. at his place, with him

Usage

3ndo is the preposition 3nd followed by the third-person masculine pronoun: literally "at his place", it works in practice like the verb "to have". The feminine is 3ndha, the plural 3ndhom. The negative is formed with ma…ch: ma 3ndoch, he does not have. In the past, kan is added: kan 3ndo, he had. A pitfall for an English speaker: since it is not a true verb, it is not conjugated; only the final pronoun changes. It also keeps its locative meaning: ana 3ndo, I am at his place.
