Meanings
- to remove, take off
- to shave off
- to move aside, get rid of
Usage
7iyyed is a very common verb meaning to take something away from somewhere. It is used for clothing (7iyyed lkebbout, take off your coat), an object or a stain. It also applies to a beard or body hair (7iyyed l7ya, to shave off one's beard). Figuratively, it means to get rid of a habit or a person. The imperative 7yed men 9oddami (get out of my way) is common and a bit curt. It is easily confused with 7ed, from the verb 7ad (to step aside). The imperfect is ki7iyyed.
