9sse7 قسّح
Moroccan Darija · verb
“9sse7” (قسّح) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to harden, make hard.
Meanings
- to harden, make hard
- to be stubborn (qsseḥ rasu)
- to be harsh with someone
Usage
A verb derived from qaseḥ, "hard". In its literal sense, it means to make something hard or more resistant. It is used mainly in the expression qsseḥ rasu, literally "to harden one's head", that is, to be stubborn or refuse to listen. Constructed with ɛla, it means to be hard or severe toward someone: qsseḥ ɛlih. The register is common and informal. Beware of the gloss "hurt" sometimes found: the verb does not mean "to cause pain". The central idea remains hardness, physical or of character. The corresponding adjective, qaseḥ, is more frequent than the verb.
Example
ما تقسّحش راسك، سمع ليا
ma t9sse7ch rassek, sme3 liya
