akhla9i أخلاقي

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“akhla9i” (أخلاقي) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning moral, ethical.

Meanings

  1. moral, ethical
  2. decent, family-friendly

Usage

Akhla9i is an adjective derived from akhla9. It belongs to a rather careful register, close to Standard Arabic. It is used for a film, a conduct or a problem judged from a moral point of view: "mochkil akhla9i" means a behavioural problem. The feminine is akhla9iya. Beware of a frequent homograph: the same form also means "my morals, my manners" (akhla9 + suffix -i), for example in "n7essen men akhla9i". Only context settles which of the two readings applies.

Example

ماتخافش لفيلم راه أخلاقي.
