Usage
Batri, also pronounced batriya, is an adapted borrowing from the French "batterie". It is very common for the battery of a phone or a car, and sometimes for a cell battery. It is generally treated as a feminine noun ("l-batri na9sa", "the battery is low"), but masculine agreement is also heard. For a dead battery, one says "l-batri tfat" or "ma b9at batri". On social media, many people simply write "batterie" the French way.
