be3d بعد

Moroccan Darija · preposition

“be3d” (بعد) is a preposition in Moroccan Darija meaning after.

Meanings

  1. after
  2. later (men be3d)
  3. far (b3id), to move away (b33ed)

Usage

Be3d means "after": "be3d lftour" (after the meal), "be3d ma ja" (after he came). With men, "men be3d" means "then, later" or "after". The word is neutral and very frequent. From the same root come b3id (far) and the verb b33ed (to move away, to step aside), as in "b33ed men ṭri9i" (get out of my way). It is easily confused with bo3d, "distance, dimension", which is more formal.
