“bluza” (بلوزة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning blouse, woman's top.
Meanings
- blouse, woman's top
- work or school smock
Usage
Bluza is an adapted loanword from French "blouse". It is a feminine noun that mainly refers to a light women's top, the equivalent of a blouse. It can also refer to the smock worn over clothes, at school, in the laboratory or at the hospital. The common plural is bluzat. It appears in clothing vocabulary and in clothing ads. Watch out for the false friend: it does not mean a loose smock in the old sense, but most often a modern women's garment. For a man's top, one says qamija instead.
