Usage
Charjour is a borrowing from French "chargeur", fully integrated into darija. It is used mainly for a phone charger, but also for a computer or battery charger. It takes the Arabic article: ccharjour, and uses dyal for possession: ccharjour dyali, "my charger". The most common plural is charjourat. In online writing, many people keep the French spelling "chargeur", but the pronunciation remains darija, with a j. It is often combined with the verb charja, "to charge": charji tilifoun, "charge the phone".
