chrajem شراجم

Moroccan Darija · noun

“chrajem” (شراجم) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning windows.

Meanings

  1. windows

Usage

Chrajem is the plural of cherjem, "window", a very common word in Morocco for the windows of a house or apartment. It combines naturally with the usual verbs: 7ell cherjem ("open the window"), sedd or chedd cherjem ("close the window"). Darija also has chbbak, which more often means a grilled window or a counter opening, and ta9a, a small opening. Beware of translations in sources: singular and plural are often mixed up there, whereas chrajem is truly a plural.
