ders درس
Moroccan Darija · noun
“ders” (درس) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning lesson, class.
Meanings
- lesson, class
- lesson learned from an experience
Usage
Ders (or dars) means the lesson or the class session, at school, at the mosque or in private tutoring. The plural is drus. People say qra d-ders (study the lesson) or ders l-khousousi for private tutoring. Figuratively, it is used as in English: khdit ders (I learned my lesson), had chi ders lik (let that be a lesson to you). To say "to study", darija prefers the verb qra rather than a verb derived from this root.
Example
نبداو درس دابا
nbdaw dars daba
“Let's start the lesson now.”
