dyali ديالي
Moroccan Darija · pronoun
“dyali” (ديالي) is a pronoun in Moroccan Darija meaning my.
Meanings
- my
- mine
Usage
Dyali combines dyal and the suffix -i ("me"). It is one of the most frequent words in darija. After a definite noun it means "my": ttilifon dyali, "my phone". On its own it means "mine": had chi dyali, "this is mine". As a term of endearment it is also used for a loved one (lhob dyali, "my love"). It is invariable. With kinship terms, the direct suffix (mmi, khti) is often preferred to dyali.
Example
لا ماشي ديالي
la mashi diyali
“No, it's not mine.”
