Moroccan Darija · adjective

“fased” (فاسد) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning rotten, spoiled.

Meanings

  1. rotten, spoiled
  2. corrupt, depraved

Usage

Fased is used first of all for spoiled food: meat, fish, fruit or soured milk. The feminine is fasda and the plural fasdin. Figuratively, it describes a dishonest person or one of bad morals, or a corrupt system. This sense is fairly pejorative. The noun fsad, "corruption, debauchery", belongs to the same family. Note: for a "spoiled" child, you don't say fased but rather mfeššeš or mdellel. The food sense remains by far the most frequent.
