Meanings

  1. untie, loosen, undo
  2. break up a fight
  3. free, get out of trouble

Usage

Fekk is a very common verb in Morocco. It first means to undo something knotted or tied: a rope, a knot, a shoelace. It is also used to separate two people who are fighting (fekkhum, "separate them") and, more broadly, to get someone out of a difficult situation. It belongs to the informal, everyday register. Note: in online writing, the Arabic spelling فك is often used to write fik ("in you, on you") when the yā is omitted. Only context tells the two apart.
