flekher فلخر
Moroccan Darija · adverb
“flekher” (فلخر) is an adverb in Moroccan Darija meaning in the end, finally.
Meanings
- in the end, finally
- at the end of
Usage
Flekher is formed from the preposition f ("in") and lekher ("the end, the last"). Used alone, it means "in the end, when all is said and done" and often wraps up a story or an argument: flekher, ma kayna hta haja. Followed by a noun, generally with t or d, it means "at the end of": flekher t simana, flekher d chhar. The word is common and neutral, in speech as well as in written messages. For an English speaker, the pitfall is confusing it with "finally" in the sense of relief. Flekher marks the outcome of a series of events, not an exclamation.
Example
فلخر ماكاينا تاحاجة
flekher makayna tahaja
“In the end, there's nothing.”
