fog فوڭ

Moroccan Darija · preposition

“fog” (فوڭ) is a preposition in Moroccan Darija meaning on, above.

Meanings

  1. on, above
  2. on top of that (wfog hadchi)

Usage

Fog is the usual preposition for saying that one thing is placed on another or is above it: fog Tbla, "on the table", fog ssdah, "on the terrace". It combines with suffixed pronouns: fogo, "on him", fogha, "on her". The expression w fog hadchi means "on top of that, moreover". The g is pronounced hard, as in "go". This is why fo9 or f9 is sometimes written online, a spelling that reflects the urban pronunciation with q.
