Usage

Ghzal is the most common adjective for "beautiful, pretty" in darija. It applies to people, children, objects, places, and even food or a quality product. It is sometimes invariable, even though the feminine ghzala exists. It is readily intensified, as in ghzal bzaf or che7al ghzal!, "how beautiful he is!". It should not be confused with ghzel, "to spin wool". In its literal sense, ghzal means the gazelle, and the animal is a traditional image of beauty.
