jddab جدّاب

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“jddab” (جدّاب) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning attractive, appealing.

Meanings

  1. attractive, appealing
  2. captivating, eye-catching

Usage

Jeddab describes a person who is attractive or appealing, or a thing that draws attention: a shop window, an advertisement, a piece of music. The feminine is jeddaba. In darija, the Standard Arabic dh sound becomes d, hence the spelling with د rather than ذ. It is often used with rah or with bezzaf for emphasis. This word is a bit more formal than zwin (beautiful): it stresses the power of attraction more than beauty itself.
