jdeb جدب
Moroccan Darija · verb
“jdeb” (جدب) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to attract.
Meanings
- to attract
- to charm, captivate
Usage
Jdeb means to attract, in both the literal and figurative senses. It applies to a person who charms another, or to something that draws a crowd: "kayjdeb nnas" (it attracts people). The passive or reflexive tjdeb means "to be attracted." The Standard Arabic dh sound becomes d in darija. Do not confuse it with the very common jbed, which means "to pull, to withdraw" in the physical sense.
