Moroccan Darija · verb

“khzen” (خزن) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to store, stockpile.

Meanings

  1. to store, stockpile
  2. to set aside, keep in reserve

Usage

The verb khzen means to put something in reserve for later: provisions, goods, water, sometimes money. It is conjugated regularly: khzent (I stored), kankhzen (I store), ghadi nkhzen (I am going to store). It is often used with a place complement introduced by f-: khzen f-lkouzina, khzen f-lmakhzen. It is not just a matter of putting away, but of accumulating in anticipation of a need. For "to tidy up" in the sense of putting in order, rtteb or jme3 are used instead. The vocabulary of storage is built on the same root.
