Moroccan Darija · noun

“kolliya” (كلّية) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning faculty, university.

Meanings

  1. faculty, university

Usage

Kolliya refers to a university faculty. In everyday use it is equivalent to French "la fac": kan9ra f l-kolliya (I'm at uni). It is also used as the first term of a construct to name a specific faculty: kolliyat l-7o9ou9 (law faculty). The word comes from Standard Arabic but is fully integrated into darija.
