m3awd معاود
Moroccan Darija · adjective
“m3awd” (معاود) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning having told, recounted.
Meanings
- having told, recounted
- having redone, repeated
Usage
M3awed is the active participle of the verb 3awed, "to tell" or "to redo, start over". It expresses a completed action whose result still matters, often after rah or ana: rah m3awed liya means "he told me". The person being told is introduced by li- (liya, lik, lih). In the sense of "redo", you say for example ana m3awed l-imti7an, "I retook the exam". This participle varies in gender and number: m3awda in the feminine, m3awdin in the plural. The gloss "redundant" given in the sources is misleading.
Example
راه معاود ليا شي بلا نات خايبين عليك
rah m3awd liya chi blanat 5aybin 3lik
“He told me some nasty stories about you.”
