m7doud محدود

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“m7doud” (محدود) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning limited, restricted.

Meanings

  1. limited, restricted
  2. reserved, not sociable
  3. narrow-minded, dim

Usage

M7doud first means "limited": restricted places, means, numbers or time, as in lblayes m7doudin (places are limited). Applied to a person, it takes two figurative senses. It can describe someone reserved who speaks little, even with close ones; it is then often constructed with "m3a". It can also describe someone narrow-minded or of limited abilities, as in fhamto m7doud, and in that case it carries a pejorative nuance. Context lets you choose between these senses. It should not be confused with mo7addad, which means "precise".

Example

البلايص محدودين، خصك تسجل دابا

lblayes m7doudin, khassek tsejjel daba

“Places are limited, you have to register now.”
