Moroccan Darija · adjective
“machi mawdo3i” (ماشي موضوعي) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning subjective, not objective.
Meanings
- subjective, not objective
- biased
Usage
Machi mawdo3i combines the negation machi with mawdo3i, "objective". The expression belongs to a rather educated register: it is heard in debates, commentary on the media, at school or on social networks. It describes an opinion, a judgment, an article or a person that lacks impartiality. It agrees in the feminine (machi mawdo3iya). In colloquial speech, one would rather say "kaymil l chi jiha", "he leans to one side". To negate an adjective, one uses machi and not ma…ch.
