Moroccan Darija · expression

“mafrasoch” (مافراسوش) is an expression in Moroccan Darija meaning he is not aware.

Meanings

  1. he is not aware
  2. he has no idea

Usage

Mafrasoch literally means "it's not in his head": he is not aware, he doesn't know something. It is the negative form of f rasu (he knows, he is aware). The final pronoun varies with the person: mafrasich (I don't know), mafraskch (you don't know), mafrasha (she doesn't know). It is often introduced by rah or ra. The expression is very common and informal. It stresses ignorance of a situation or fact, rather than a lack of intellectual knowledge. For the latter sense, ma3refch is used instead.
