makafich ماكافيش

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“makafich” (ماكافيش) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning not sufficient, it's not enough.

Meanings

  1. not sufficient, it's not enough
  2. not enough (amount, money)

Usage

Makafich is the negative form of kafi (sufficient): "it is not enough". The word agrees: makafyach in the feminine, makafyinch in the plural. It is used for a quantity, money, time or effort: lflous makafyinch (the money isn't enough). It is very common in everyday speech. Kafi on its own means "enough", and is also used in the sense of "that's enough, stop". The negative form does not carry this imperative sense. It is often reinforced with rah or with bzzaf: makafich bzzaf (it's far from enough).

Example

راه ماكافيش هاد الما لي كايم

rah makafich had lma li kaym
