mfessel مفصّل

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“mfessel” (مفصّل) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning detailed, explained point by point.

Meanings

  1. detailed, explained point by point
  2. well-cut, fitted (garment)

Usage

Mfeṣṣel is said of an explanation, a story or a document that goes into detail: a mfeṣṣel lesson, a mfeṣṣla answer. It agrees in gender and number: mfeṣṣla in the feminine, mfeṣṣlin in the plural. It is also used as an adverb in phrases like "3awed lia mfeṣṣel" (tell me in detail). It is related to the verb feṣṣel, "to detail", but also "to cut, to tailor a garment". Hence the second, rarer sense: a well-cut garment that shows the figure. Context is enough to tell the two apart. The register is everyday and neutral.
