Meanings

Usage

Mkhtar is the participle of the verb khtar, "to choose". It describes what has been picked from several possibilities: a product, a person, a team. The feminine is mkhtara, and the plural is mkhtarin. Depending on context, it can also refer to the one who made the choice: ana mkhtar hadi, "this is the one I chose". The word is more natural in a polished or commercial register. In everyday conversation, people more often use the verb itself: khtarit, "I chose". Note: Mokhtar is also a very common male first name in Morocco, which can cause confusion in writing.
