Moroccan Darija · noun
“mla7da” (ملاحظة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning remark, observation.
Meanings
- remark, observation
- written note, annotation
Usage
Mla7Da is a borrowing from Standard Arabic, well integrated into darija. It means a remark made to someone, often to correct or qualify something: "3ndi wa7d lmla7Da" (I have a remark). It is also used for a written note, notably a teacher's comment on an assignment or a report card. The register is neutral, slightly formal, and the word is frequent at work, at school and in the media. Its plural is mla7aDat. The corresponding verb, la7eD, means "to notice". Note: it does not mean a numerical grade, which is nqTa.
Example
عندي واحد الملاحظة صغيرة
3ndi wa7d lmla7Da sghira
“I have a small remark.”
