Meanings
- certain, specific, definite
- appointed, assigned (to a post)
Usage
Mo3ayyan (feminine mo3ayyna) comes from Standard Arabic. In speech it is common for saying that something is specific or definite: f wa9t mo3ayyan ("at a specific time"), chi blassa mo3ayyna ("a specific place"). Placed after an indefinite noun, it is equivalent to "a certain" or "a specific…". In administrative language it also means "appointed, assigned", for example a civil servant posted to a city. Note: mo3ayyan does not mean "certain" in the sense of "sure". For that, say mt2akked.
Example
كنتسناك فوقت معيّن
kantsnak f wa9t mo3ayyan
“I'll wait for you at a set time.”
