mo3jiza معجزة

Moroccan Darija · noun

“mo3jiza” (معجزة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning miracle.

Meanings

  1. miracle
  2. extraordinary thing, marvel

Usage

Mo3jiza means a miracle in the religious sense, but also, more commonly, an unexpected event or an unlikely success. B7al chi mo3jiza means "as if by miracle". It is also used ironically: hadi mo3jiza!, "it's a miracle!", for example when someone finally arrives on time. The plural is mo3jizat. The pronunciation stays close to standard Arabic. Note: sentence 1 of the sources contains a different word, m3gaza, "lazy", wrongly written as mo3jiza.

Example

و بحال شي معجزة, ماعمرو خسر و أنا فيه باقي

o b7al chi mo3jiza, ma3emro khser o ana fih ba9i

“And as if by miracle, it never broke down while I was in it.”
