Usage
The adjective mumeyyez, also pronounced mmeyyez, comes from Standard Arabic. It is very widespread in darija, especially in a positive register: advertising, compliments, social media. It describes what stands out from the rest, such as a successful dish, a remarkable person or a good deal. It agrees in the feminine (mumeyyza) and the plural (mumeyyzin). It is placed after the noun: wa7d l-blasa mumeyyza, "a special place". For a plain "special" in the sense of "reserved for", khass or spécial is used instead.
