Usage
Mostawa comes from Standard Arabic but is very common in darija. It is used mainly for level of education (lmostawa dirasi), level in a language or a sport, or the quality of a service. With the article, people generally say lmostawa. Common phrases: "lmostawa dyalo tal3", his level is high, and "machi f lmostawa", not up to standard. In conversation, many Moroccans also use the French word "niveau", especially in urban settings. It is therefore normal to hear both words in the same exchange.
